Got Some Spare Paint this Halloween?
Do you have leftover paint in your garage? Or do you perhaps want to trial a Vintro colour that you love with your décor?
From glam to spooky or comic faces, the possibilities for painting pumpkins are endless. This activity is perfect for the school holidays - it's a far safer and less messy way of adding to your Halloween décor than carving pumpkins, making it suitable for all ages! There is a wide variety of styles to try: from black with drippy gold, chequered or striped, to silly faces, unicorns, skeletons or spiders. Just make sure to wash and thoroughly dry your pumpkin first. You may also find it helpful to add a basecoat under your design.
Whilst you have your paint out, why not paint a few autumn leaves to add to your display? Or, have a go at leaf prints to hang on your wall. To do this, pick some different sized leaves, making sure they are still fresh as dried leaves will crumble. Cover the leaf with paint and carefully press it onto some paper or card. Try watering down the paints to achieve different kinds of printing effects.
You can also paint scrap materials in different patterns to hang. Or, if you have some old carpet or mats, you can paint these and use them as scary doormats to greet guests! Just use some masking tape to outline a design and get painting.
One final cheap way to add some Halloween décor is to decorate old jars and containers. You can paint them with characters or drip and splat red paint on them for a spookier look. If you don't want to paint the outside of jars, fill it with heavily water down coloured paint and add some plastic spiders or white balls to look like eyes.
